This is my first time to use your forum, I appreciate any help. I am looking for marriage info on my gg-grandparents:

Groom:
Jeremiah Maritn b: about 1810-1820, Canada East.
died: Dec 25, 1879 Colton, NY

Grooms parents:
Unknow

Married about 1845-1850 time frame, suspect they married in (area of) Sudbury, Rutland County, VT. Reason: I first find on the US 1850 Census Sudbury, VT Census, Eliza Martin 16 years old, Jeremiah Martin 40 years old. Census states both are from Canada. Later censuses says Canada East, or French Canada as I track them every ten years.

Bride:
Eliza Daniels
b: 23 Aug. 1832 Quebec
died: 2 Nov. 1909 N. Elba, NY

Brides Parents:
Joseph Daniels and Amelia Papinuea (Papenaults), this isn't 100% confirmed, no solid source info.

Joseph Daniels b: about 1790-1810 time frame. No death info for him in Quebec or Vermont.

Amelia (Emilie) Papineua: I believe was born 1796-1810.

Eliza is the oldest of the kids born in 1832, they must have married before 1833.

I strongly suspect that Joseph and Amelia Daniels are Eliza's parents; they are enumerated on the same page with Jeremiah and Eliza Martin. They are French Canadian as well. I find them enumerated again on the same page on the 1860 US Census in Hubbardton, Rutland, County, VT. Have been told by descendants of my Martitn Family Line that Amelia Daniels, wife of Jospeh Daniels, surname was: "Papineua."

On the 1870 US Census Jeremiah and Eliza Martin have moved to Colton, St. Lawrence County, NY. Joseph and Amelia Daniels are still in Hubbardton on the 1870 Us Census.

Here's the children of Joseph and Amelia Daniels, if they are the true parents of Eliza Daniels:

Eliza DANIELS b: 23 AUG 1832 in Eastern Canada (French Canada)
Lezo DANIELS b: ABT 1834 in Canada East
Edwin (Edward) DANIELS b: JUN 1835 in Canada East
Rose DANIELS b: ABT 1840 in Canada East
Peter DANIELS b: MAY 1836 in Canada East
Emma DANIELS b: ABT 1845 in Canada East
Susan DANIELS b: ABT 1850 in Rutland County, Vermont

Here's the children of Jeremiah Martin and Eliza Daniels:

Thomas MARTIN b: ABT 1852 in Rutland County, Vermont
Leaduski Sarah MARTIN b: ABT 1858 in Rutland County, Vermont
Mary MARTIN b: 4 MAR 1861 in Brandon, Rutland, Vermont
ulius MARTIN b: ABT 1866 in Rutland County, Vermont
Eliza MARTIN b: ABT 1869 in Colton, St Lawrence, New York
Saphrano MARTIN b: ABT 1872 in Colton, St Lawrence, New York

I have checked the state of Vermont for marriage info on Jeremiah Maritn and Eiza Daniels, no luck. I have tried the town of Sudbury and surrounding area and have had no luck. Checked records of the Catholic Diocese and no luck. They may not have been catholic?

There also appears to be a Joseph Jr. Dnaiels I find first on the 1860 US Census in Hubbardton, his wife is named "Emily." He appears to have been born about 1814, Canada. At first I though he was Jsoeph and Amelia's child, but now I think he may be a nephew or cousin, I track him over the next few Censuses in Rutalnd County with his family.

Here's one lead but no solid evidence so far:

Joseph Daniels was the anglicized name Joseph Desmarais gave himself in the U.S. Joseph Desmarais and Emilie Papineau were married on September 28, 1830 in the parish of St-Joseph de Chambly. Joseph was considerably older than Emilie, his parents having married in 1788. Emilie's parents married thiry years later (viz. 1809). Their (biological) children were born after 1830. No records of children at that parish.

I find several Joseph Daniels' and Emilie Papinues' in the PRDH, but it cuts off after 1799, I don't have access to the Blue-Druion Marriages. Can't get post 1799 marriages from PRDH. Have also checked the Tanguay(?) Books (Dictionary of Families, Quebec), a lot of it cuts off in the late 1700's. Don't know which parish to start looking in.

If anyone has info on these people it would be greatly appreciated. It would be great to confirm through the children of Joseph and Amelia Daniels or find marriage info on Eliza and Jeremiah Martin. Then I can cross over to Quebec properly in researching Parish info and records.

Thanks,

Antoine

I should have access to the Blue Drouins this coming Wednesday. Tell me the names of couples to look for and I'll see what I can find.

Dear Antoine, my name is Richard Martin and I have been doing a search of my great grandfather Joseph Elzea Martin, who lived in St Denis, Kamaruska County.
I was looking in the ACGS and saw your name and that you were looking for information about the Martin's. I have been using WWW.Ancestry. Com. and I found a Jeremiah Martin, however, he was born in Vermont not Canada. His place of death was the same as you indicated in your msg., which was Colton, NY. Everything else matched his wife was Eliza and he had 4 children Sarah, Mary Julius and Eliza. I don't know if this will be of any help to you. I hope this is the same person that you are looking for info, on
Good luck in you searching.

Hello,

When I was reading your email, my new favorite database, pilot.familysearch.org came to mind. I entered Jeremiah Martin's name then because there were so many hits, I limited it with Event (Marriage) and then I could only limit the place to New York, there were none for Vermont. The only marriage that came up was for Jeremiah's son, Thomas.

Susan Daniels came up connected to a census, but you already have that.

The thing about the familysearch pilot is that they are still indexing and adding records every day, so be sure to check every once in awhile. Try all sorts of queries, too.

Good luck, Janine

P.S. You were right about the baptisms. I found the Desmarais marriage easily enough on BMS2000.org, but no baptisms for that couple.
