How to Use the ACGS Message Board
Registering with the Bulletin Board
Benefits of registering:
- Lets you be recognized each time you visit the board and not have to retype your name when you post a message.
- Also alerts you when responses have been posted to messages you have posted
- You will be able to see how many new messages have been posted each time you log in since the last time you visited the message board.
- You will be able to see which other members are online when you are online
- You can choose to make your e-mail private or public.
How to do it:
- Click the "Register" button in the Top right corner
- Fill in the entry boxes.
- When done press the <submit> button
- Then go to the Message Board page and Pick the "Log In" button in the Top right corner
Viewing Messages
How to do it:
- Click on the Forum you are interested in (such as "Searching for Ancestors")
- Click on the Post you are interested in (such as "Vaillancourt")
Posting Messages
How to do it:
- Select the Forum you are interested in (such as "Searching for Ancestors")
- Pick the "New Topic" button
- If you are a registered user, the Username field will be filled in automatically
- If you are a guest you will have to fill in this information.
- Fill in the Subject, Message Body etc. e-mail addresses and web site URLs will be converted to links automatically if you use the default settings for posting.
- Use the "Preview" option or "Submit" to post automatically to the Forum
Replying to Messages
How to do it:
- Select the Forum you are interested in (such as "Searching for Ancestors")
- Select the Post you are interested in replying to (such as "Vaillancourt")
- Pick the "Post Reply" button
- If you are a registered user, the Username field will be filled in automatically If you are a guest you will have to fill in this information.
